Order Paper
An order paper is the official daily agenda and schedule of business for a legislative body, such as a parliament or council. Published before each sitting day, it outlines exactly what topics, motions, bills, and questions will be discussed, and the order in which they will be addressed.
The order paper serves several key purposes:
The Daily Schedule: It lists the specific items the chamber will consider that day
Advance Notices: It often includes a "notice paper" section that alerts to upcoming motions, or written questions that will be debated in the near future.
Transparency: It ensures that members of the legislature—and the public—know what is coming up so they can prepare arguments, amendments, or questions for ministers.
